RAL 6003 Olive Green Color Guide:

• RAL 6003 Olivgrün was officially introduced as a camouflage color in 1943 following official Wehrmacht regulations A.H.M. 1943, Blatt 9 from 7th April 1943, No. 322 (O.K.H. (Ch H Rüst u. BdE), 3rd April 1943 - 72/88/16 - In 2 (V).
• For a short time in 1943, RAL 6003 Olivgrün could be used to apply camouflage mottles over Dunkelgrau Nr. 46 used as the primary camouflage color of German vehicles.
• RAL 6003 Olivgrün replaced RLM 62 Grün, which was temporarily used for the newly introduced 3-tone German AFV camouflage in Feb-Apr 1943 according to A.H.M. 1943, Blatt 5 from 22nd February 1943, No. 181 (O.K.H. (Ch d H Rüst u. BdE), 18th February 1943 - 72/88/1 - In 2 (V)). This scheme involved applying camouflage patches of RLM 82 and RAL 8017 Rotbraun over the Dunkelgelb nach Muster base.
• From April 1943, RAL 6003 Olivgrün was used to paint camouflage patches on German vehicles together with RAL 8017 Rotbraun over a base coat of RAL 7028 Dunkelgelb, according to A.H.M. 1943, Blatt 9 from 7th April 1943, No. 322 (O.K.H. (Ch H Rüst u. BdE), 3rd April 1943 - 72/88/16 - In 2 (V)).
• RAL 6003 Olivgrün, according to the regulation of Oberkommandos des Heeres H.V.Bl. 1945 Teil B, Blatt 4 dated February 12, 1945, No 52 (O.K.H., 24th January 1945 - 70 k 10/10 - WaA/Wa Chef Ing 1/V), was to be a new base coating, replacing RAL 7028 used for this purpose.
• RAL 6003 Olivgrün was used as a base color of German WW2 vehicles according to the Tarnbild (Camouflage master) pattern (Tarnanstrich), or the so-called German late-WW2 ambush camouflage.
• In 1945, due to the lack of paint stocks and the rush for production, RAL 6003 could also be used as the uniform color of German vehicles.
• RAL 6003 Olive Green, together with RAL 7021 Schwarzgrau and FS 34079 Forest Green were used to paint camouflage patches of the 3-tone German Norm-83 green aircraft camouflage used in the 1980 and1990s, including for exported aircraft such as F-104 delivered to Greece.
• RAL 6003 Olive Green was also used in the Norm-84 scheme, simplifying the Norm 83 scheme by using only RAL 6003 Olivgrün and RAL 7021 Schwarzgrau, and the FS color was no longer used.
