Grigio Mimetico Color Guide:

• Grigio Mimetico was an Italian dark sea gray color used primarily for the camouflage of the undersurface of aircraft.
• Grigio Mimetico was introduced as a new color for the undersides of Italian aircraft in 1937, replacing the previously used Alluminio color for this purpose. However, some aircraft could retain lower surfaces painted in aluminum varnish until the outbreak of World War II.
• Grigio Mimetico was replaced by the new Grigio Azzurro Chiaro 1 color introduced by Tavola Directive 10 of July 1941. Although newly built aircraft usually received the new underside color, frontline aircraft could retain in Grigio Mimetico color.
