ANA 616 Sand
A high-quality semi-gloss late WW2 USAAF sand acrylic or enamel paint for scale models and creative work.
ANA 616 Sand Color Guide:
- ANA 616 Sand was introduced in September 1943 following ANA Bulletin No. 157.
- ANA 616 Sand was to replace Sand No. 49, used early in World War II for desert camouflage of USAAF aircraft. However, Sand No. 49 continued to be used until supplies ran out. ANA 616 and Sand No. 49 were interchangeable, but ANA 616 did not have the same pinkish hue as its predecessor.
- ANA 616 Sand was used in desert camouflage schemes for U.S. Army Air Forces aircraft beginning in September 1943. These schemes called for upper surfaces to be painted entirely in ANA 616 Sand, or over standard Dark Olive Drab No. 41 to apply ANA 616 patches. The lower surfaces were to be painted in Neutral Gray No. 43.
