RAL 7001 Silver Gray Color Guide:
- RAL 7001 Silbergrau was used as the under-surface color of German Luftwaffe aircraft post WWII according to Norm 62 and Norm 72 schemes, the upper surfaces following these schemes are to be painted in RAL 7012 Basaltgrau and RAL 6014 Gelboliv.
- RAL 7001 Silbergrau along with RAL 7009 Grüngrau were used to paint the lower surfaces in accordance with the multicolor Luftwaffe Norm 81 camouflage scheme. The upper surfaces, according to this scheme, are to be painted in RAL 7012 Basaltgrau, RAL 7037 Staubgrau, RAL 7039 Quarzgrau, RAL 7009 Grüngrau and the fuselage sides in RAL 7030 Steingrau.
- RAL 7001 Silbergrau is the modern counterpart of Hellgrau 50, which was used to paint the superstructures of Kriegsmarine warships in the pre-WW2 and early-war periods.
- RAL 7001 Silver Gray is the color of the under surfaces of Ukrainian aircraft, painted according to the pixel gray scheme.
