General Purpose Colors

If you're involved in the world of creativity, you've likely noticed that there are certain paints you tend to use in nearly every project. The same goes for scale modeling - some colors prove valuable no matter the type of model, its era, or genre.

Which Colors Comprise the Basic Palette?

The basic color palette includes a selection of paints without any specific ties to a particular period or collection. We've naturally included the purest white and deepest black hues, which are practically always useful. Besides these, we've added a few versatile colors that creative individuals will consistently find handy.
Within the basic palette, you'll also discover lacquer coatings, both entirely transparent and colored, as well as various high-quality metallic shades with fine dispersion.

Where Can You Apply the Basic Palette?

These paints find utility not only in painting but also in coloring figurines, ship models, tanks, aircraft, and car models. The paints from the basic palette can also be used for decoupage or decoration projects.

Can Colors from the Basic Palette Replace Specialized Shades?

Many of the colors in the basic palette, such as black and white, are commonly used. The same applies to metallic shades. For instance, aluminum paint was widely used in aviation painting during the 1930s and the post-war period due to its excellent heat exchange characteristics. We've refrained from adding aluminum paint to the Finnish, German, Soviet, French, Italian, British, and other palettes. Despite each country having its official standards, their shades were quite similar to each other.

What if the Desired Color Isn't in the Basic Palette?

While the basic palette might not include the specific shade you're seeking, you can find it in specialized thematic collections. Additionally, you can make use of our color collections: black, white, blue, brown, gray, green, red, and yellow hues have been carefully organized into corresponding directories. If you still can't find the shade you're interested in, feel free to reach out to us - we're confident we can help you find the exact shade you need.
