RLM 77 Light Gray Color Guide:

• RLM 77 Hellgrau was added to Luftwaffe directive L.Dv. 521 after its revision in November 1941.
• The RLM 77 Hellgrau was often used instead of the RLM 21 Weiß to apply national insignia and markings on Luftwaffe night fighters to reduce their visibility.
• At the end of World War II, due to a lack of paint stocks, RLM 77 Light Gray could be used instead of RLM 75 Mittelgrau, which in turn was sometimes used instead of RLM 82 Hellgrün. This could be seen on some Focke-Wulf Fw 190s from the end of WWII.
