RLM 65 Hellblau Ausgabe 1938
High-quality semi-gloss German WWII aircraft Wedgewood blue acrylic or enamel paint for scale models and historical miniatures.
RLM 65 Light Blue version 1938 Color Guide:
- RLM 65 Hellblau was introduced in 1936 with the first edition of Directive L.Dv. 521.
- The main purpose of the RLM 65 Hellblau color was to paint the undersides of Luftwaffe aircraft, both fighters and bombers.
- When the Luftwaffe introduced the early 3-color splinter camouflage in 1937, the undersides of the aircraft were to be painted with the new color RLM 65 Hellblau.
- Later, a two-color camouflage consisting of RLM 71 Dunkelgrün and RLM 70 Schwarzgrün splinter patches was introduced instead of the mentioned three-color camouflage. The lower surfaces were still painted in the 1938 RLM 65 Hellblau color
- In 1941, a new edition of the color RLM 65 Hellblau Ausgabe 1941 was released, more faded and with a noticeable gray tint. At the same time, the RLM 65 Light Blue in the 1938 version was discontinued.
