RLM 25 Hellgrün
Semi-gloss acrylic or enamel paint matched to the documented RLM 25 Hellgrün specification. The tone reflects the characteristic light green used by the Luftwaffe for equipment and tactical markings as defined in L.Dv. 521.
About RLM 25 Hellgrün:
- The RLM 25 Hellgrün shade was introduced in the initial issue of directive L.Dv. 521.
- RLM 25 was designated for identifying water and glycol engine-cooling system lines and associated equipment on Luftwaffe aircraft.
- RLM 25 Hellgrün was also employed in tactical applications — propeller spinner colors, tactical bomber codes, and individual aircraft numbers on fighters.
- The color was further used for unit insignia and technical stencilling on the fuselage.
- In 1936–1937, fighters of JG 232 carried light-green tactical markings in RLM 25. In April 1937 the Geschwader was reorganised and integrated into JG 137 as I. Gruppe; a year later it was redesignated JG 231, which subsequently became part of the later JG 3 “Udet.”
- Throughout the Second World War, RLM 25 Hellgrün, together with RLM 24 Dunkelblau, served as one of the tactical marking colors for bombers assigned to Geschwader Stäbe and subordinate Gruppenstab aircraft. V. Gruppe aircraft also carried green markings.
- At the beginning of 1944, the Reichsverteidigung fighter-band system was introduced. A solid fuselage band in RLM 25 was carried by aircraft of JG 27 “Afrika.”
- The band system was subsequently expanded to include two-color combinations. The green-white band (RLM 25 Hellgrün with RLM 21 Weiß) was applied to aircraft of JG 77 “Herz As,” while fighters of JG 51 “Mölders” carried a band consisting of two RLM 25 stripes separated by a central RLM 21 stripe.
