Paint Type

RLM 26 Braun

High-quality, historically accurate copper-brown paint matched to the original RLM specification. Formulated specifically for scale aircraft modeling and fine-detail work. Available in either acrylic or enamel.

About RLM 26 Braun:

  • RLM 26 Braun was officially introduced in 1936 under Luftwaffe directive L.Dv. 521/1.
  • The brown tone was used for marking lubrication conduits and associated equipment on German aircraft.
  • RLM 26 Braun saw extensive use in technical stenciling and tactical markings on Luftwaffe aircraft — including unit insignia, fighter Bordnummern, and bomber code elements.
  • From 1936 to 1939, aircraft of JG 134 “Horst Wessel” carried markings executed in RLM 26.
  • Throughout the Second World War, RLM 26 Braun identified aircraft of various 5th Staffeln. In some cases, RLM 26 was employed in place of RLM 23 Rot, which was normally used to mark fighters of the 2nd, 5th, 8th, 11th, and 14th Staffeln.
