RLM 74 Dark Greenish-Gray Color Guide:

• RLM 74 Dunkelgrau (or Graugrün in some sources) was established in 1941 with a revision of L.Dv. 521/1.
• RLM 74 Dark Gray was suggested for the fighter aircraft camouflage consisting of patches of RLM 74 and RLM 75 Mittelgrau on the upper surfaces and RLM 76 Lichtblau for painting undersides. This scheme was also used in ANR squadrons to camouflage not only German aircraft but also Italian fighters.
• RLM 74 Graugrun was also used for camouflage of Late-WW2 Luftwaffe night fighter aircraft. This camouflage scheme suggested irregular mottlings of RLM 74 and RLM 75 on the upper surfaces, fully painted with RLM 76. The lower surfaces, according to this scheme, remained RLM 76 or could be painted with RLM 22 Schwarz to better blend in with the night sky.
