RAL 9005 Black Color Guide:

• RAL 9005 Black was introduced in 1933 according to H.Dv. 488/1 of 20 April 1933.
• RAL 9005 Schwarz Nr. 5 was widely used to paint chassis, mudguards, trailer hitches, engines, antennas, and other equipment of German WWII and post-war vehicles.
• RAL 9005 Black No. 5 was also applied to paint roundels, markings, tactical numbers, stencils, etc. on German WW2 AFVs.
• Schwarz Nr. 5 (later RAL 9005 ) could also be used in the Buntfarbenanstrich camouflage (Jun. 1922- Jul. 1937) as a separator color around the camouflage patches of RAL 8002 Erdgelb Nr. 17, RAL 6007 Grün Nr. 28, and RAL 8010 Braun Nr. 18.
• RAL 9005 Tiefschwarz is the closest equivalent to the color Schwarz 8 used by the German Kriegsmarine.
• RAL 9005 Tiefschwarz was also widely applicable in post-war and modern German Air Force and German Navy aviation for painting radio-transparent panels, radomes, etc.
