RLM "84b" Gray Blue Color Guide:

  • Officially, the color RLM 84 never existed. The designation "RLM 84" was given by aviation historians, that's why "84b" was taken in quotes.
  • RLM "84b" Graublau was a darker version of RLM 76 Lichtblau, the standard lower-surface color of German fighters from 1941. Starting in late 1944, the Germans began painting bombers in this color as well. In addition to the gray-blue variation of the RLM 76 color, there was also its gray-green counterpart.
  • The shade RLM "84b" Graublau was used on late World War II German aircraft produced by Dornier and Arado.
