RLM 02 RLM-Grau
High-quality semi-gloss acrylic or enamel olive gray paint for scale models and historical miniatures.
About RLM 02 RLM-Grau:
- RLM 02 was officially introduced in 1936 by Luftwaffe directive L.Dv. 521/1.
- Until November 1941, it was used for cockpits and interior surfaces of Luftwaffe aircraft. After that, cockpit areas visible through the canopy were painted in RLM 66 Schwarzgrau, while other internal areas — wheel wells, bomb bays, flap interiors, etc. — remained in RLM 02.
- RLM 02 Grau was also applied to wheel wells, bomb bays, flap interiors and similar structures.
- In the 1930s, some Luftwaffe aircraft were finished overall in RLM 02, others in silver or RLM 63 Hellgrau.
- Even after the outbreak of WWII, prototypes, pre-production and experimental aircraft were often finished overall in RLM 02.
- In 1940, during the Battle of Britain, RLM 02 was used in the upper-surface camouflage of Bf 109 and Bf 110 fighters together with RLM 71 Dunkelgrün, while undersides were typically finished in RLM 65 Hellblau (1938 standard).
- As interior areas were rarely repainted during service, RLM 02 was also common on aircraft supplied to Axis-aligned air forces — Italy, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Croatia, Slovakia, and Finland.
